Research and Study Division
The name PMCC is derived from the region of Gilgit-Baltistan, which falls within the high-altitude regions of South Asia. The foundation of this region on the globe is such that some of the world’s highest mountain peaks and largest glaciers have been formed by nature.
The greatest challenge, of the mountain communities seems to be generating the transparent and accountable management system of human, natural, social and financial resources for equitable and sustainable development, in the context of a political, social and institutional environment that upholds: natural resources, sustainable development, wild life, gems & minerals, human/child/women rights, poverty alleviation, institutional development and the rule of law.
Therefore, without doubt, germinating sustainable development networking in the area is the real call of the time that could meet the needs of current generations without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. In this context, human, financial, and natural resources are capital that must be maintained in order to support sustained social, economic, and environmental activity. Protecting the environment thus preserves the very basis for future development. Sustainable development in our areas of intervention, in particular in the mountain areas, is the basic rationale of PMCC.
